Spectroscopic Studies of Exchange and Reduction of Co(III) Complexes in Large-Pore Zeolites.

Co(NH sub 3 ) sub 63+ complexes were introduced into Na-Y zeolite by conventional ion exchange from aqueous solution. The spectrum is identical to that of Co(NH sub 3 ) sub 63+ in hydrated salts DTA indicate that the hexammine complex is decomposed by heating the zeolite to 625 exp 0 K. Decompositon in vacuo is accompanied by spontaneous reduction to paramagnetic Co exp 2+ . Partial reduction to the metal occurs in hysrogen at 825 exp 0 K. (ERA citation 08:036617)
