Energy Use and Range of Electric Vehicles in Selected US Department of Energy Sites

The experience of selected private- and public-sector operators of electric vehicles is summarized, particularly with respect to energy use (kWh/mi) and range under various conditions. Comparisons will be made with US Postal Service experience, and with manufacturer's expectations of vehicle performance. Analyses of the effect of vehicle characteristics and driver behavior on average energy use and range will be presented, indicating the extent to which each of these factors influences performance and how these factors might be altered.
