Continuation Study on Hydrogeochemical Processes in Abandoned Uranium Tailings from the Elliot Lake District

This report describes the results of the first year of an investigation that was conducted during the period of May, 1982 to March, 1983. The objectives of the investigation were to: 1) Determine the kinetic behaviour of pyrite oxidation and subsequent acid production by means of laboratory investigations, 2) Evaluate by means of laboratory experiments the effects of mineral-water interaction resulting in neutralization of low pH pore water in the existing acidic tailings.
