Plans for Solar Window-Box Heat Collector: Mississippi Solar Council Project

Plans and assembly instructions are given for a home-made solar air heaer that uses corrugated sheet to absorb solar radiation and channel air flow. The unit is placed in a south-facing window at an angle of about 45 exp 0 , and is designed to pull sinking cool air out of the room, warm the air, and push the warmed air back into the room. When the plates are not heated above room temperature by the sun, the cooler air at the bottom of the collector is said to prevent cold air from entering the room. (ERA citation 09:000421)
