DOE (Department of Energy) Small-Hydropower Engineering Development Program Overview

Since 1977, DOE has funded about 35 projects for improving the viability of small (less than 30 MW) hydropower plants. Results to date indicate that some of the concepts will significantly reduce the capital cost, and will reduce the time to get a plant on-line by nearly a factor of two. (ERA citation 08:045790)
