Long-Stroke Open-Channel Reciprocating Engines. Final Report

摘要

Over the past two years, attempts have been made to demonstrate sustained automatic operation of both wind and water devices. Although this was not achieved, general feasibility of both varieties has been established, and design directions for solving remaining problems have emerged. The use of parachute type elements for both wind and water versions has proven to be workable. The ratios selected for step-up for both versions are also proper for the design wind and water current speeds. The remaining problems are in the area of the ''valving action'' from a low drag to a high drag/lift configuration and vice-versa. Other implementation problems involve handling of lines to prevent tangling.
