Coherent Pion Production in exp 6 Li( Exp 3 He, pi exp + ) exp 9 Be and exp 10 B( exp 3 He, pi exp + ) exp 13 C Close to Threshold

The energy dependence of the exp 6 Li( exp 3 He, pi exp + ) exp 9 Be(g.s.) reaction at theta lab = 20 exp 0 has been studied for Tsub(3He)=235, 260, 270 and 283 MeV and at 40 exp 0 and 55 exp 0 for 235 and 283 MeV. A semi-phenomenological model reproduces the shape of the angular distribution and the order of magnitude of the cross section but predicts a too sharp energy variation. Experimental results on exp 10 B( exp 3 He, pi exp + ) exp 13 C(g.s.) at 20 exp 0 lab for 260 and 283 MeV are of a similar size. (ERA citation 09:015443)
