The particle-hole model is presented for nuclei with closed core +- 2 nucleons. The model, as applied to sup 6 Li, sup 14 N, sup 14 C and sup 18 O, gives overall agreement with experiment for the low-lying and GDR states. (Atomindex citation 15:037578)
