Solar Pond Performance Estimation, Engineering Design, and Construction Experience

A solar pond is a low-cost solar collector and storage device for low-temperature (less than 110 exp 0 C) heat. However, there are many design and construction details that must be considered to obtain the optimum efficiencies necessary to achieve economical performance. Several of these considerations, as well as a brief description of mathematical models for estimating performance, are discussed in this paper. (ERA citation 09:011800)
