Numerical Calculations of Stratified Ekman Layer Flow over Ridges with a Finite Element Model.

Stratified viscous flows over idealized two-dimensional ridges were simulated. Results are presented which first employ periodic lateral boundary conditions and a rigid lid at the top. The top condition is then replaced by an open-top boundary condition. Finally, several calculations are presented with certain non-periodic lateral boundary conditions. 6 references, 4 figures.
