Health Information Resources in the Federal Government, 1984

A directory of 113 Federal and federally-sponsored sources of health information is presented. The handbook is arranged alphabetically by keyword. The one-page entries described the services and activities of the resource and provide information on contacting the agency/organization. Any known limitations, such as restrictions on use, audience, or charges for services, are stated. The type and scope of publications produced by the resource are indicated. The name, type, and frequency of publication and a brief content description are noted for materials produced regularly by the resource. For resources that maintain an automated or computer-based retrieval system, a description is provided, along with information on access to the data base. Entries in the directory can be located in three ways: by using the keyword arrangement, by consulting the organization index, or by consulting the subject index. The organization index is an alphabetical listing of all resources cited, while the subject index highlights the subject content of major publications and products produced by each resource.
