Common Fixed Points for Multimaps in a Metric Space

N.S. Papageorgiou (Nonlinear Analysis, Theory, Methods and Applications, v.7, pp.763-770 (1983)) proved some common fixed point theorems for multifunctions. In the present paper it is shown that the full force of the hypothesis is not needed to conclude the results; in fact, the hypothesis can be significantly weakened at no cost to the conclusion. It is also shown that the weakened hypothesis cannot be further reduced. (Atomindex citation 16:058855)
