摘要

The objectives of this research are to investigate the thermal decomposition of pulverized coal in hot flue gas environments, under high heating rates and at temperatures in excess of 1500 exp 0 K using a laminar opposed jet combustion configuration. Previous progress reports have discussed: (1) data on coal pyrolysis occurring in flue gas from a CH sub 4 /O sub 2 N sub 2 flame; and (2) mathematical modeling required to determine coal particle trajectories and heating rates under these opposed flow configurations. Current work focuses on coal pyrolysis in flue gases from an H sub 2 /O sub 2 /N sub 2 flame, which was chosen to allow rates of evolution of carbonaceous species to be quantified.
