Plutonium Purification by Vacuum Distillation

摘要

Objective of this work was to address the theoretical requirements for volatile removal of Zn, Ca, and Mg, to compare the theoretical requirements and performance to results of initial testing, and to use the comparison as a guide to further work. The development and process evaluation has suggested a number of areas where performance may be improved still further, e.g. cooler condenser, minimization of refluxing, improved transfer area for Zn transport, and improved mixing.
