Field Calibration of Computer Models for Application to Buried Liquid Discharges: A Status Report

A field experiment for calibrating computer models was conducted. Data from the experiment were compared directly to the output of a computer model. The model inputs were estimated from in situ information and computer forecasts of moisture movement were made. The forecasts were biased at some points in the system. The bias could be removed by using improved estimates of the parameters. The model correctly forecast that horizontal movement would dominate in situ wetting patterns. 18 references, 21 figures, 5 tables. (ERA citation 10:010391)
