Amorphous Ni-Ti Alloys: A New Method of Synthesis

In order to determine the cause of the amorphization by mechanical alloying, Ni/sub x/Ti/sub 1-x/ (0.1 < x < 0.8) were prepared by mechanical alloying and studied using XRD and SEM. Results indicate that amorphization by mechanical alloying proceeds through isothermal solid-state reactions. (ERA citation 10:007079)
