Electro- and Magnetostatic Variations in SSC Tunnel

摘要

Applications of electro- and magnetostatic fields for very high energy accelerators such as the proposed 20 TeV Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) or Desertron are discussed. The possibility of replacing the quadrupole and even the dipole magnetic fields with electrostatic fields is examined. On the other hand, the Rare Earth Cobalt (REC) alloys offer the application of high remanent magnetostatic dipole fields, too. A possible combination of electrostatic and magnetostatic fields is discussed. (Atomindex citation 16:050546)
