''Box Method'' for Finding Intersections of a Trajectory with Axisymmetric Flux Surfaces

Computer routines have been developed for handling a difficult geometry problem which frequently occurs in the analysis of toroidal plasmas. It is assumed that the plasma may be described in terms of a set of nested toroidal magnetic flux surfaces. Presented here is a set of algorithms that determine the intersections of a given trajectory with a given set of flux surfaces. (ERA citation 10:035760)
