Preliminary Ring-Width and Ring-Density Data for Deriving Wood Mass Chronologies of Coniferous Species from the Northwest US and Canada

The purpose of this report is to specify the content and application of archival ring-width and ring-density data obtained from the Public Archives of Canada. The data represent several coniferous species collected from many sites throughout the northwestern US and Canada. Discussion focuses on the manner and use of this data for calculating total wood production or ring mass and for detecting tree growth enhancement related to increasing atmospheric CO sub 2 levels over the last century. 2 refs., 1 fig., 2 tabs.
