It has been found that V and Mo occupy the Nb-site in bronze processed Nb sub 3 Sn whereas the situation is still uncertain with respect to the small amount of Zr that goes into the compound. Part of these are engaged in forming ZrO sub 2 . Previously it has been found that Ti and Ta, which in contrast to V and Mo increase the upper critical magnetic field, also occupy the Nb-site. Thus there appears to be no direct relationship between site occupancy of the alloying element and increased critical magnetic field. (ERA citation 10:037061)
