Market Potential for Small Scale (15 KW to 500 KW) Cogeneration Systems

As electric utilities continuously adjust their rates to reasonable reflect changing costs, small scale cogeneration will be found to be beneficial overall as a result of shaving high cost utility system peaks with a more energy and cost effective technology. In those locations where electric utility rates are high, in general, small scale cogeneration can also be used in a baseload mode as well. Particularly susceptive to small scale cogeneration are those areas suffering or about to suffer the ''nuclear rate shock'' of a new nuclear facility coming on stream. By all accounts, small scale cogeneration will become a major industry. The industry will be cost effective and conserve energy compared to existing central power plants. (ERA citation 11:034157)
