The growing number of foreign nationals who are attending US colleges and universities, together with the increasing dependence on them to fill high-demand, high-tech occupations, present a unique ''window of opportunity'' for institutions of higher education to foster a mutually beneficial relationship with this component of American society. This may be especially true for institutions in the South, and, because the potential rewards are great, it is an area which merits increasing attention. (ERA citation 11:058716)
