Anaerobic Digestion and Biocatalysis

A report is given on the scope of the technical programmes in the UK and the US on anaerobic digestion and biocatalysis. The study arises from the Collaboration Agreement signed by the respective Secretaries of State for Energy in the UK and US in 1984. The present state-of-the-art in both countries is described for biocatalysis of wastes of various types and anaerobic digestion for landfill gas, bioreactors, sewage sludge, industrial effluents and farm wastes and crops. The two areas identified for joint UK/US collaboration in this field are landfill gas and biocatalysis. (ERA citation 11:029485)
