The work carried out in the current period was a continuation of that done previously under this contract. The goal was to elucidate the dynamics of the processes which determine the efficiency of dye-sensitized semiconductor/electrolyte photoelectrochemical cells. In particular, direct fluorescence lifetime measurements were undertaken to explore the competition between the primary event, electron transfer, and other processes which shorten the lifetime of the dye excited state. 4 refs.
