Sophisticated gamma-Ray Data Acquisition System Based on an IBM PC/XT Computer

It is easy to assemble and program an automated gamma-ray data acquisition system consisting of an IBM PC/XT computer and several computer-controllable modules. Our system features pattern recognition to determine the energy calibration, automatic gain setting, automatic efficiency calibration, detector-positioner control, and source-changer control in addition to the more conventional operations. 4 refs., 7 figs.
