Method of Removing Hydrogen Sulphide from Gases

A method is claimed for removing hydrogen sulphide from gases containing CO sub 2 . The characteristic feature of the invention is that the removal of hydrogen sulphide is carried out using the aqueous solution of the alkaline salts of the weak inorganic acids and/or of their mixtures, e.g., potassium phosphate, at a temperature of 20 to 250 exp 0 C, pressure of 0.4 to 12 MPa, the duration of contact of the wash solution with the desulphurized gas of 0.5 to 30 s, and in the regime of contact of the gas and liquid phases in the absorption column in which the Reynolds number of the gas phase is equal to at least 2000. The invention can be used in desulphurization of the gases formed in gasification of solid fuel. (ERA citation 10:019717)
