This Safety Evaluation Report for the application filed by The University of Texas for a construction permit and operating license to construct and operate a TRIGA research reactor has been prepared by the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The facility is owned and operated by The University of Texas and is located at the University's Balcones Research Center, about 7 miles (11.6 Kilometers) north of the main campus in Austin, Texas. The staff concludes that the TRIGA reactor facility can be constructed and operated by The University of Texas without endangering the health and safety of the public.
