The evaluation of photovoltaic (PV) systems located at various experimental sites within the US requires the recording of weather, insolation, and PV system operating data. The On-site Data Acquisition System (ODAS) performs this function. The ODAS consists of a computer, instrumentation, and software. Since the specific data measurements vary somewhat from site to site, a basic concept in the design of the ODAS hardware and software is the separation of the standard and site-specific functions.
