Hydrogen atom and molecule interactions, and the energetics and dynamics of molecular hydrogen collisions using both conventional dispersive and laser-spectroscopic methods are discussed. The experiments may be divided broadly into three categories: the impact broadening of atomic hydrogen line cores; the wings of the atomic lines; and excitation transfer in the molecule.
