摘要

Relatively short-term (approximately 2000 h) tests were conducted on precracked self-loaded fracture mechanics specimens of two candidate container materials in simulated Hanford groundwater at two temperatures: 150 deg C and 250 deg C. The two materials tested were cast ASTM A27 Grade 60-30 steel, and weldments in wrought ASTM A36 steel. Three different levels of applied stress intensity factors (K) were tested for each material/temperature combination. The results of these short-term tests suggested no crack extension in either material. In addition, short-term (1 week) load relaxation tests were conducted on precracked steels at 250 deg C. These results aid in the interpretation of test results for specimens tested for larger exposures in groundwater environments. (ERA citation 11:027624)
