Analysis of Lifestyle Effects on Residential Energy Use.

An analysis of a large data set was performed to identify lifestyle trends or relationships that effect residential energy consumption. The data set was collected by 7 utilities and consisted of about 30 homes in each location. All of these homes had energy consumption data on a 15 minute basis, including submetered space conditioning and water heating energy use. Some of the utilities also measured indoor temperature. Lifestyle information including family size, house size, and house type was collected at some of the utilities. Indoor temperature and heating and air conditioning energy use were examined with respect to outdoor temperature, heating system type, family size, house size, and house type.
