International Congress of Gerontology, 1985

摘要

The text reports on partial travel support provided to 48 United States scientists who were selected to participate in the 1985 International Congress of Gerontology. Back-ground on the Congress is supplied, and program design and travel awards are addressed. It is pointed out that the program for an International Association of Gerontology (IAG) Congress is organized by representatives of committees (Asis/Oceania, Europe, Latin America, and North America) with the host committee assuming final coordination responsibilities. Members of the North American Committee are identified, and significant dates in the program planning process are listed. The Congress' financial support is considered, and it is pointed out that each of the 47 member organizations in the IAG pays dues based on the number of members in their respective organization. Results and implications of the Congress are explored; the primary result was the coming together of gerontological scientists and professionals to share the results of latest research, new information, and practice examples. The travel awards are listed and an index of appendixes is provided.
