摘要

The interaction of highly charged ions (argon, nitrogen, and oxygen) with metal surfaces (gold single crystal) causes the emission of electrons. Energy spectra of the emitted electrons reveal, for sufficiently high charge states of the projectile, the occurrence of Auger deexcitation of projectile inner shell vacancies brought into the interaction as well as inter-atomic charge exchange leading to the emission of target Auger electrons. 25 refs., 5 figs.
