Radionuclide Release Calculations for Selected Severe Accident Scenarios. Volume 5. PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor), Large Dry Containment Design.

The report presents results of analyses of the environmental releases of fission products (source terms) for severe accident scenarios in a pressurized water reactor with a large dry containment. The analyses were performed to support the Severe Accident Risk Reduction/Risk Rebaselining Program (SARRP) which is being undertaken for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission by Sandia National Laboratories. In the SARRP program, risk estimates are being generated for a number of reference plant designs. The Zion Plant has been used in the study as an example of a large dry containment PWR design.
