Model Studies of Hydrodesulfurization and Hydrodenitrogenation and Sulfided Mo Surfaces

The alteration in reactivity for C-N and C-S bond activation induced by the presence of nonmetallic, electronegatige adlayers has been investigated using temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy in conjunction with isotopic exchange experiments. These studies determine product distributions for reactions occurring on surfaces of varying composition and geometry and allow inferrance of the stoichiometry of surface reaction intermediates. The capability for high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and single reflection fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is currently under development. (ERA citation 11:023209)
