摘要

The stability of the size distribution of water droplets suspended in the containment atmosphere arising from the fine balance between the raising of the water vapour pressure above a curved surface and its lowering due to the presence of dissolved species is considered. A model for predicting the stable size is developed from established physico-chemical theory and illustrated by application to a case where the suspended aerosol arises from fragmentation of a flashing water jet. Consideration is also given to the possible impact kinetic effects may have on the droplet behaviour. (ERA citation 13:000693)
