This report describes and analyzes measurements of the harmonic currents generated by utility interactive (residential) photovoltaic prototypes at the Southwest Residential Experiment Station, Las Cruces, NM; their propagation through the distribution system; and their impact in terms of voltage harmonic distortion. The report also presents modelling and simulation studies of harmonic propagation in the system. The impact of harmonics on the test feeder is insignificant, and simulation studies suggest that this would be true at higher levels of penetration as well. (ERA citation 12:030332)
