Measurements of the electron drift velocity, w, attachment coefficient, eta/N/sub a/, and ionization coefficient, alpha /N, have been made in C sub 2 F sub 6 /Ar and C sub 2 F sub 6 /CH sub 4 gas mixtures at gas temperatures, T, of 300 and 500 sup 0 K over the concentration range of 0.1 to 100% of the C sub 2 F sub 6 . These measurements are useful for modeling the expected behavior of repetitively operated electron-beam sustained diffuse gas discharge opening switches where gas temperatures within the switch are anticipated to rise several hundred degrees during switch operation.
