Strategy for R and D Leading to Improved Energy Efficiency. New Metal Forming Processes

A strategy is presented for an R and D program on new metal forming processes as a means of improving energy efficiency in the UK metals industries. Thirteen technical areas are identified as being worthy of a five year research programme with the potential for saving an energy equivalent of 0.6 million tons of coal per year.
