Evaluation of the French Studies for the Detection and Sizing of Subcladding Cracks in Case of an Eventual Propagation

In 1979 subcladding cracks were discovered inside the nozzles of the French PWR vessels. The purpose of this paper is to outline the main steps of the study which were undertaken to detect efficiently subcladding defects, then to develop a sizing method. (ERA citation 13:051117)
