Basic Theory of Desertification.

A new theory is developed for explaining the processes that give rise to desertification. This theory is arrived at through analyses of possible influences of Earth's surface albedo modifications upon the general atmospheric circulation patterns with the aid of a recent theory of Sun-Climate/Weather links (Njau, 1985a; 1985b; 1986; 1987a; 1987b). It is shown that surface-albedo modification in a given region will not induce significant changes in the general atmospheric circulation patterns unless the region's size is at least equal to a certain minimum value.
