摘要

The design, manufacture and post-forming analyses of a complex shape produced by superplastic forming of the aluminum-lithium alloy 2090 are described. With appropriate prior thermomechanical processing to produce fine-grained superplastic sheet, this alloy displays excellent superplastic properties at commercially desirable strain rates and temperatures of formed and unformed sheet after solution heat treatment and aging was investigated. In both cases, tensile properties improve significantly at low temperatures over their room temperature values. However, these increases are not accompanied by an increase in fracture toughness at low temperature over the moderate value measured at room temperature. 18 refs., 5 figs., 2 tabs.
