Remark on the Gravitational Field Produced by an Infinite Straight String.

We compare the results predicted by Newtonian Gravity and General Relativity regarding the field produced by an infinite string with constant density lambda. A simple gedanken experiment is suggested to stress the remarkable differences betwenn these two theories. The existence of the usual newtonian limit is discussed in this case.
