Creation of a Plant Molecular Genetics Capability at LLNL (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory).

Recent conceptual and technical advances in plant molecular genetics and biotechnology can be used to minimize the impact of energy-related stressors on plants in the natural environment. This involves, among other possibilities, the development of plants resistant and/or tolerant to air pollutants, with a concomitant understanding of the effects of specific toxic gases on basic metabolic processes.
