摘要

The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF), a general purpose detector designed to study /bar p/p interactions at the Tevatron, incorporates apparatus for the study of diffractive processes, such as elastic scattering and diffraction dissociation. The heart of this apparatus comprises two ''leading particle spectrometers'', one on each side of the interaction region, which utilize the Tevatron magnets to analyze the momentum of leading particles in the region 1 - x < 0.1 and theta < 1 mrad. In this paper we describe briefly the physics goals, apparatus and run plan of CDF for the study of diffractive processes at sqrt s = 1.8 TeV. 1 ref., 3 figs. (ERA citation 14:011661)
