Structure and Bonding of Diamond and Diamond-Like Materials: Microanalytical Characterization at High Spatial Resolution.

We summarize the results of our studies of explosively compacted diamond particles, microwave plasma enhanced CVD diamond films and diamond-like residues of extraterrestrial carbon (Cdelta residue) by microdiffraction, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy and electron energy-loss spectroscopy, all using nanometer-scale electron probes and by electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis, a complementary bulk spectroscopic method.
