A simple model of coupled electronic and collective nuclear motion is used to study energy transfer processes in the presence of a laser field. The complete classical Hamiltonian of the model includes nuclear, electronic and laser field terms. A semi-classical method to extract spectral information from the generated trajectories is used to calculate transition intensities and frequencies for the coupled quantum mechanical transitions. The nuclear term describes a deformed heavy nucleus with potential well parameters based on the recent work by Sharon and Naumann, it sufficiently treats collective nuclear rotational motion lower in frequency than in the single particle nucleon model. We reported on the dynamics of this model in the presence of a laser field; a problem of interest in laser-driven nuclear excitation. 15 refs., 1 fig. (ERA citation 14:012284)
