Fracture Toughness Characterization of Nuclear Piping Steels.

摘要

To assess the integrity of piping systems in nuclear power plants, materials' property information such as fracture toughness and stress-strain data are required. The report summarizes findings from testing of heats of piping steel representing a cross-section of those included in nuclear plants. Included are ferritic steels, austenitic stainless steels, and one heat of an Inconel alloy. Besides the characterization of piping steels, additional studies examined the effect on J-R curves of flattening specimen blanks, and assessed size effects and through-thickness variability on stress-strain curves.
