US Clean Coal Technologies: International Markets and Competitive Issues.

One objective of this study is to impact the US clean coal technology (CCT) demonstration program regarding its direction and the content of its continuing research and development, with respect to international markets. The study areas addressed to date include: the characterization of specific demand centers, representative of expanding international markets in industrialized and developing countries, the identification of RD&D initiatives of countries competing with the US, the identification of barriers to international competitiveness, and the characterization of US and competitive technologies believed to have significant potential in the international market. This paper highlights our study progress to data with respect to areas 1--3. Area 4, an item of considerable interest and the subject of ongoing work, will not be addressed herein. 48 refs.
