Finite element analysis of a clamp using SDRC I-deas.

The assignment is to analyze the stresses and displacements in the 385290 clamp. This clamp is used during vibration of the W88 unit to securely mount the unit to the vibration fixture. The stresses and displacements are calculated with the SDRC I-deas software package. The software package employs finite element analysis techniques on a solid model of the clamp to evaluate the resultant stresses and displacements based on a given load set. The key assumption is that the inner radius of the clamp does not compress the W88 unit. The key result is that the regions of highest stress concentration are at the three bolted radii of the clamp and not at the free radius as initially suspected.
